IPL 13: We Put Our Basic Right And Ticked All Box Against KKR: Suryakumar Yadav

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav believes that the team performed brilliantly against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the team was able to tick all the boxes.

Suryakumar Yadav said, “It was a great wicket when it came to batting. During the last game, we talked as a group of 180 odd runs in the match against KKR, we completely stamped that box. We just put our basics right.”

“The energy on the field was amazing when we went to defend the score. In the team meeting, we discussed how to be positive and clear in our minds. By the time the last ball was thrown, the energy was on the spot,” he added.

Mumbai Indians beat KKR by 49 runs for their first win in this year’s IPL. Rohit Sharma was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ for his 80-run innings.

Batting first, Mumbai scored a total of 195/5 in the prescribed twenty overs. Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs while Suryakumar Yadav scored 47 runs.

KKR bowlers bowled less consistently and Rohit completely redeemed those balls.

Defending 195 runs, Mumbai did not give much and Trent Boult, James Pattinson, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Rahul Chahar all gave away two wickets each.

Bumrah got key wickets from Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell.

In the end, KKR’s Pat Cummins hit a quick 33-run knock, but Mumbai had sealed the victory by then.

Mumbai Indians will play horn with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) next Monday, 28 September.
