Jack Dorsey Steps Down From Twitter Board

Mumbai: Jack Dorsey has stepped down from the Twitter board of directors, as Tesla CEO Elon Musk fights with the micro-blogging platform to reveal the actual number of fake/spam accounts.

Dorsey quit as Twitter CEO in November last year, handing over the post to Indian-origin Parag Agrawal who was then the CTO of the company.

At the time, Twitter noted that Dorsey would remain on the board “until the end of his term at the 2022 stockholders meeting.”

Dorsey has explicitly stated that he will never be the CEO of Twitter again, as news of his rejoining the micro-blogging platform emerged after its $44 billion acquisition by Musk.

Dorsey, who now runs financial payments platform Block (formerly Square), also said no one should be the CEO of Twitter.

At a shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday, Twitter’s board voted to oust Egon Durban, a board member and associate of Musk, CEO of private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, reports TechCrunch.

Durban led Musk’s deal team during 2018, unsuccessful attempts to take Tesla private.

Musk has blocked a $44 billion Twitter deal due to the presence of fake/spammy accounts and wants the micro-blogging platform to come clean on the real number of bots.
