UP Govt To Give ₹45 Lakh, Jobs To Families Of 4 Farmers Killed In Lakhimpur Kheri

Mumbai: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced ₹45 lakh compensation and one government job each, for families of four farmers killed during the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on Sunday.

Additionally, the government will also give ₹10 lakh to those injured in the incident. FIRs will be registered based on farmers’ complaints and a retired High Court judge will probe the matter. Also Read: Lakhimpur Kheri Incident Reflects The Mentality Of The Central Government: Bhupesh Baghel

“An FIR has been registered based on farmers’ complaints under the relevant sections. A judicial inquiry will take place to probe the matter under a retired high court judge,” the ADG said. “Government will give Rs 45 lakhs and a government job to the families of four farmers who died in Lakhimpur Kheri yesterday. ADG Prashant Kumar further said that there will be arrests in the matter soon. “The bodies of the farmers that lost their lives in the incident are being taken for postmortem,” he added.

The ADG also informed that the leader of any political party is not allowed to visit the district as Section 144 of CrPC is in force. However, members of farmer unions are allowed to visit the district.

Eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Sunday, police said. Lakhimpur Kheri Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh confirmed the death of eight people, including four farmers and four riders in the vehicles that allegedly hit the farmers.
