Lockdown In Maharashtra’s Parbhani From 7 pm Today To March 31

Mumbai: Parbhani district in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region will be placed under lockdown from 7 pm on Wednesday to March 31 in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases.

District Collector Deepak Mughalikar said that earlier measures like night curfew proved to be effective as the transition graph of new cases continued to show upwards.

“The lockout will come into force at 7 pm on Wednesday. It will be strictly implemented till March 31 with an objective to curb the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the district,” he said.

Parbhani added 1,132 more cases to its overall tally since March 1, taking the district’s caseload to 5,843 on March 22.

The collector said, “The district administration had earlier banned people from leaving their homes at night, but the move failed to curb the cases.”

There were 28,699 new COVID-19 infections, 13,165 recoveries and 132 deaths in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. According to the state health department, the total caseload has now risen to 25,33,026, with 2,30,641 active cases and 22,47,495 recovered.

Pune reported 5,722 new cases and 38 deaths in the past 24 hours, while Mumbai recorded 3,512 new infections, taking its cumulative tally to 3,69,426.

Nagpur reported 3,095 more Covid-19 cases, 2,136 recoveries and 33 deaths in the past one day.
