Lok Sabha Passes 3 Bills Without Discussion Amid Uproar By Opposition

Mumbai: The Lok Sabha on Monday passed three bills without discussion amid an uproar in the house by the Opposition.

The three bills are – The Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021, and The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman considered and passed the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, soon after the resumption of the Lok Sabha at 12:30 pm.

The bill aims to amend the Limited Liability Partnership Act 2008. It proposes to decriminalize 12 offences under the Limited Liability Partnership Act and promote ease of doing business in the country.

Sitharaman said, “This bill is a very important bill which aims at making it easier to do business between small and big partners. Many criminal offences will also be brought down to the minimum, where it is negotiable, we will add them.”

As Sitharaman spoke on the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, opposition MPs gathered in the Well of the Lok Sabha, raising slogans over the ‘Pegasus Project’ media report.

Sitharaman also introduced the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021. This bill will ensure bank deposits up to Rs 5 lakh. 98.3 per cent of all deposits will be covered under the DICGC Bill 2021 and in the case of deposits 50.9 per cent of the deposit value will be covered.

The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in Lok Sabha for consideration and passing by Union Minister Arjun Munda.

This bill was also passed in the house without discussion. Later, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm. This is the fourth time that the Lok Sabha was adjourned today. Earlier, it was adjourned till 11.30 pm amid sloganeering by opposition MPs in the House.
