Maha COVID-19 Tally Jumps To 416, Death Toll Rises To 19

Mumbai: A health department official said 81 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra on Thursday, raising the tally to 416, while two more patients succumbed to the infection, increasing the toll to 19.

At 57, the city of Mumbai topped the number of fresh cases in Maharashtra, leading the coronavirus virus across the country. Financial capital is also a leader in death counting.

He said the state reported two more deaths from COVID-19. With this, the toll is now 19, of which 16 are from Mumbai city.

Out of 81 new coronavirus cases, Mumbai city accounted for 57 people who have tested positive.

“Figures of other cities are Ahmednagar (9), Pune (6), Thane (5), Pimpri-Chinchwad (3) and Buldhana (1),” the official said.

He said that 42 people have so far been discharged from hospitals in the state after recovering from the infection.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 2,069, while the death toll in the country has increased to 53. The confirmed cases include 2,014 Indian nationals and the remaining foreign nationals.

A number of patients who have been cured or discharged. Cases have been registered in 29 states and union territories.
