Man Stabs Woman, Daughter In Delhi For Rejecting His Marriage Proposal
Mumbai: A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman and her daughter in Delhi for rejecting his marriage proposal for the latter.
The incident is from Kanganheri village of Kapashera area on Sunday night. The injured have been identified as agricultural laborer Lali (40) and her daughter Ruby (18), he said.
The accused was a friend of Ramu Lali’s husband, who is no more. Police said that he lived near the victim’s house.
On Sunday night around 8 pm Ramu went to Lali’s house and asked her to marry Ruby. After this there was an altercation between Lali and Ramu. When Laali refused to let Ramu marry to Ruby, he stabbed her with an iron-edged weapon with the intention of killing both the women, a senior police officer said.
Ramu, who was injured in the scuffle, was caught by Lali’s neighbors. Later he and both the women were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena said, “Based on the victim’s statement, we have registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code at Chhawla police station. The accused has been arrested and is in police custody.”
