Manipur Polls: BJP Govt’s Policies Benefit Big Industrialists, Says Priyanka Gandhi

Mumbai: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday alleged that the BJP government’s central policies benefit big industrialists, while the poor and middle class are left to their fate.

In a virtual address for the Manipur Assembly elections, the Congress leader said, “The central policies of the BJP government benefit 2-3 big industrialists, while the poor and middle class are left to their fate. Once in Manipur After strengthening MSMEs, we will create huge employment opportunities.”

Responding to a question about not releasing water from a water body in the chief minister’s constituency, Vadra took a dig at the ruling BJP and said if Congress comes to power, it will focus on the demands of the people.

Promising to focus on solving the problems of the local people, he said that Congress is the best option for Manipur.

“Time to create jobs in Manipur. We will create a Manipur regiment and hold examinations locally,” she said.

He reiterated that the focus of Congress is development and women empowerment. “The politics of the last five years has hurt you. The Congress party and the Progressive Alliance are taking initiatives for development,” Vadra said.

She further said that free healthcare to all sections of the Manipuri society, unemployment allowance and protecting civil liberties are on the party’s agenda.

The elections in Manipur will be held on February 28 and March 5. Votes will be counted on March 10
