Martyr Status, Rs 50 Lakh Compensation If Any Healthcare Staff Dies Of COVID-19: Odisha CM

Mumbai: In a recent development, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Tuesday that 50 lakh rupees will be given to all health workers who lost their lives in the fight against COVID-19.

The Chief Minister, in a video message, underlined the importance of health workers or “COVID Warriors” at the borderline of the fight against the deadly virus.

“With the initiative of the Government of India, the state government will ensure that Rs. 50 lakhs are given to all health workers (private and public) and members of all other support services who lose their precious lives in the fight against COVID-19, “CM Patnaik said.

“The state will consider him a martyr and perform the last rites of the state with state honors,” he added.

He also said that a detailed scheme of awards will be established recognizing his unique sacrifice. These awards will be given on National Day.

“The families of all government personnel (medical and others) will continue to receive full pay until the date of retirement. I appeal to everyone that as a community we should be very grateful for this bold and selfless service being rendered by our doctors, health professionals, and other support services. Please remember, that any action against them is an act against the State,” said Patnaik.

“If anyone indulges in something that will disturb or insult his work, he will be subjected to very severe criminal action, including enforcing the provisions of the National Security Act,” he said.

CM Patnaik said that the entire human race is at war with the coronovirus and the world has lost more than 2 lakh lives in a span of three months.

“This war is being fought in the front lines by our doctors and health professionals, assisted by a vast army of support services. In the absence of any treatment or vaccines that are fighting the COVID war for us, ourselves Are taking a big risk. Front, ”Patnaik said.

He said, “There is a rich tradition of honoring our brave hearts who fight for the country and accept their supreme sacrifice. In the same spirit, we propose to recognize and honor the heroic actions being done by our COVID warriors.

According to the state health department, Odisha has reported 79 COVID-19 positive cases so far.
