MHA ALlows Movement Of Stranded People, Asks States To Make Arrangements

Mumbai: In a huge relief for stranded in various states, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday allowed the movement of such people – including migrant labourers, labourers, students, tourists and others – and provided procedures for the same.

The MHA has included a sub-clause regarding the movement of people stranded due to the lockdown announced last month due to a coronovirus outbreak.

The MHA asked states to nominate nodal officers to facilitate the process, “Due to the lockdown, migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons are stranded at various places. They would be allowed to move as under.”

“All states/union territories should nominate nodal officers and develop standard protocols for receiving and sending such stranded persons. Nodal officers will also register stranded persons within their states/union territories. In case a group of stranded persons wish to move between one State/UT and another State/UT, the sending and receiving States may consult each other and mutually agree to the movement by road,” read the order.

MHA said in its order of inclusion of movement of stranded people in different places, “The moving person (s) will be examined and those found to be asymptomatic will be allowed to proceed. Buses will be used to transport groups of individuals. Buses will be a safe and secure social distance to sit. The norms will be followed. Such persons will be allowed to get the state / UT on the transit route.”

Upon completing the process upon arrival at the destination, the MHA has asked people to stay outside the house.

“Upon arriving at their destination, such person (s) will be evaluated by the local health authorities, and placed in the quarantine of the home, unless the person is required to be placed in institutional quarantine for evaluation. They are subject to periodic health. Will be kept with. Check-up. For this purpose, such individuals may be encouraged to use the Arogya Setu App, through which they The health status can be monitored and ascertained, ”said the MHA.
