Migrant Workers Demands To Go Home; Clash With Cops In Surat

Mumbai: As lockdown in India is extended for another two weeks, hundreds of standard migrant workers gathered in Kadodara in Surat district, demanding to be sent back to the native states.

The worker’s mob soon turned violent and started pelting stones are the police. In order to cup the violence, cops started lathi-charge and fire gas shells at the mob.

This is not the first protest by migrant workers in Gujarat. Last week, workers had vandalised certain under-construction sites in a similar protest.

As Surat is a diamond City, many workers from different states of India have found their livelihood there.

Even though special ‘Shramik Trains’ is running to send these workers back. Many of them are standard back hundreds of kilometre away from their home and this lockdown.
