MEA Issued A Demarche To Pakistan; Says Vacate Illegally Occupied PoK

Mumbai: The ministry of external affairs has launched a strong protest by issuing a demarche to the senior Pakistani senior diplomat in order to curb the efforts of bringing ‘Material Change’ in the territory of Gilgit- Baltistan.

In the recent order, the Pakistan Supreme Court allowed the amendment to the Government of Gilgit- Baltistan order of 2018 to conduct the general elections in the region.

MEA said in the demarche the entire union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh including the areas of Gilgit- Baltistan, are an integral part of India.

“It was clearly conveyed that the entire Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, including the areas of Gilgit and Baltistan, are an integral part of India by virtue of its fully legal and irrevocable accession. The Government of Pakistan or its judiciary has no locus stand on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it,” MEA said in the statement.

It said that such actions cannot hide the grave human rights violation, exploitation and denial of freedom to the people residing in the territories illegally occupied by Pakistan for the past seven decades.

The MEA protested strongly against the effort of bringing material change and said Pakistan should vacate the territory.
