Missing Haryanvi Singer’s Body Found After 12 Days, Family Says ‘She Was Only In Underwear’

Mumbai: The body of a Haryanvi singer, who had been missing for 12 days, was found mutilated and buried near a highway in Rohtak. Delhi Police arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping and killing her, saying the accused called her on the pretext of making a music video.

The singer – identified as Sangeeta – lived in Delhi and her family last saw her on May 11. Her family filed a kidnapping case three days later.

The family accused two men, Ravi and Rohit, who worked with her, of kidnapping and murder.

Maham Police Sub Inspector Vikas said that the mutilated body of the singer was found on Monday evening near Bhaini Bhairon village. He was called by both the accused on the pretext of making a music video.

“Two accused from Meham in Haryana, arrested in the case, revealed that they had hatched a conspiracy to kill Sangeeta. He called her on the pretext of making a music video. The body has been preserved at PGI, Rohtak,” said Vikas.

He said that the Meham police found that an FIR has been registered in this case under section 365 of the IPC at Zafarpur police station in Delhi.

“Sangeetha was missing since May 11. Delhi Police have arrested accused Anil, who is on remand for 5 days. After the postmortem, the matter will be transferred to Delhi Police. Prima facie the cause of death appears to be strangulation,” he said.

The victim’s family had also alleged that she had gone to Bhiwani to shoot a music video with Rohit. Security camera footage of a hotel near Meham in Rohtak showed them having food.

The family also accused the police of dragging their feet in the matter. “He had no clothes on except underwear,” she said.
