Money Laundering Case: Nawab Malik Has Got Exposed, Says BJP MLA Ashish Shelar

Mumbai: BJP MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar slammed Maha Vikas Aghadi for dragging BJP in the recent arrest of NCP leader Nawab Malik made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.

He said ‘Nawab benaqaab ho gaya’ (Nawab Malik has got exposed).

MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar held a press conference at the BJP office in Mumbai on Wednesday and clarified BJP’s stance.

“We did not intend to hold a press conference today, but since BJP is being dragged into the matter, again and again, we are compelled to clarify our stand,” explained MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

Shelar further said that there is no need to politicise the issue as the matter is in the interest of the nation, adding that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is pressurising the investigating machinery.

“Since the last few months, the central investigating agencies – Enforcement Directorate and the National Investigation Agency have been investigating into the assets of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Instead of responding to their queries, the ruling alliance parties are resorting to simply blaming the BJP. They are free to take the legal route and approach the courts or they can also reach out to the people. But instead of going the legal way, they are pressurising the investigating machinery. Why are they demoralising the agencies? Why are they defaming them? This is not called for. Let the investigating agencies do their job. There is absolutely no need to politicise the issue, even we will not indulge in it, especially when it is in the interest of the nation. The truth will prevail through this investigation by the agencies.”

He added, “The government was expected to take over all the assets of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and take necessary action. But these assets are being directly sold out or they are being transferred. Where is the money generated from these major transactions getting utilised? Is this money being utilised for terrorism? The investigating agencies have been investigating into this since the last few days and truth must be revealed.”

Since the past few days, there have been media reports about Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar, Sardar Shahwali Khan, Salim Patel and Iqbal Kaskar. In such a situation, why are the ruling parties in the alliance government in Maharashtra trying to obstruct this investigation by pressurising the machinery, questioned MLA Adv Ashish Shelar.

Owing to the actions of this government, ‘Nawab benaqaab ho gaya hai’ (Nawab Malik has got exposed) and the face pro-terrorist Thackeray government has come to the fore, criticised MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

Meanwhile, Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik.

ED officials took Malik to a government hospital for medical examination and he is likely to be produced in a special PMLA court.
