More Than 1 Crore Affected By Assam, Bihar Floods, Death Tol Reaches To 170

Mumbai: Bihar and Assam flood have up till now hit a whopping total of 1.11 crore, one of the highest ever recorded.

In Bihar, 72.78 lakh people from 12 districts of the state have been hit by the calamity while in Assam 38.37 lakh people were affected in 18 of its 33 districts. Around 170 people are killed in the floods, 104 being from Bihar and 66 being from Assam.

In Assam, in total 185 animals died due to the heavy floods. In the Kaziranga National park of Assam, 16 rhinos have reportedly died. This is one of the worst floods to ever hit the two states. Swollen rivers kill whatever comes in its reach.

Bihar is India’s most flood-prone state, with 76% of the population in north India living under recurring threat of flood devastation. 16.5% of the total flood affected area in India is located in Bihar. Bihar while 22.1% of the flood-affected the population in India lives in Bihar.

Today, CM Nitish Kumar visited the relief camps to hear and give aid to the refugees. The number of relief camps has been brought down even though the number of refugees is rising.
