Mumbai Woman Forced To Abort 8 Times, Given 1500 Injections As Husband Wanted A Son

Mumbai: A 40-year-old Mumbai woman has filed a police complaint alleging harassment and abuse from her husband for a male child.

The woman said her husband forced her to have abortion eight times and was given around 1,500 hormonal and steroid injections to ensure that she conceived a boy.

The woman’s plight came to light after she approached the police and lodged a complaint. The woman’s father said that she had married the accused in 2007. Reportedly, the accused is from a highly educated family.

The woman’s husband and mother-in-law are lawyers while her sister-in-law is a doctor. After a few years of marriage, the accused started assaulting the woman and demanded the birth of a son.

The man told the complainant that he wanted a son who could protect the family and property. In 2009, the woman gave birth to a baby girl and two years later, when she became pregnant again, the accused took her to a doctor for an abortion, News18 reported. Reportedly, the woman told the doctor that she did not want the child.

After the 2011 incident, the accused started treatment for childbirth in Mumbai. Reportedly, the accused took the woman to Bangkok for a pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. The woman was treated before conception in Bangkok and underwent surgery to determine the sex of the fetus. Reportedly, the woman was given over 1,500 hormonal and steroid injections during this period.

It must be noted that tests and treatments banned in India, were being conducted on the woman without her consent.
