Muslim Ruled India For Years: Akbaruddin Owaisi Counters Citizenship Amendment Act

Mumbai: AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said on Tuesday that no one has the right to ask Muslims for papers to prove their citizenship because they ruled India for years.

Addressing a rally, Owaisi attacked the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said that it was his ancestors who gave the Red Fort, Charminar and Qutub Minar to this country.

“There is no need to fear. Today, they are asking what a Muslim has? I have this to say – you want to check my papers. For 800 years, I have ruled this country. This country is mine. It will continue to be mine and mine. My ancestors gave this country Charminar, Jama Masjid, Mecca Masjid, Qutub Minar. The red fort, on which the Prime Minister of this country hoisted the tricolour, was also given to you by my ancestors. Do you want papers See, Charminar is the biggest proof that my ancestors made it (this way), ”said Owaisi.

Akbaruddin Owaisi’s brother Asaduddin Owaisi has also been vocal on criticising the Act. At an anti-Mammath CAA rally in December, Owaisi said that India’s Muslims rejected partition and chose to live here. “We rejected Partition and rejected Jinnah’s invitation. Amit Shah is weak in history. This is Darussalam where Jinnah gave a speech 70 years ago. We chose to stay here. This is our loyalty and love for the country. This very ground of Darussalam today hoists the Indian flag,” he said.
