Muslims Also Voted For BJP In UP, Claims RSS Affiliate

Mumbai: The RSS-affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch lauded the BJP’s victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, saying the people of the state rejected the “negative politics” of opposition parties and expressed their faith in the “Modi-Yogi style of governance”.

It also claimed that more than eight per cent of Muslim votes went to the BJP.

“The MY (Muslim + Yadav) equation of the Samajwadi Party was completely dominated by the implementation of the plans and works of the BJP government. Muslim women and men also voted for the party in large numbers. More than eight per cent of Muslim votes have gone to the polls. In BJP’s bag,” MRM spokesperson Shahid Saeed said in a statement.

He said that while people rejected the “negative politics” of the BJP’s rivals, including the Samajwadi Party, Mayawati’s BSP and Congress were pushed to the “brink of extinction” in Uttar Pradesh.

“People have once again given their approval to the Modi-Yogi style of governance,” he said.

RSS national executive member Indresh Kumar, who is the founder and chief patron of the MRM established in 2012, led his organization’s campaign for the BJP ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Punjab.

MRM workers held several meetings with Muslim clerics and scholars in four states, and others from the minority community, and conducted door-to-door campaigns in Muslim-dominated areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, seeking BJP’s support.
