Navjot Singh Sidhu Submits His Resignation To CM Amarinder Singh

Mumbai: Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu who recently decided to quit from his Amarinder Singh government has now sent his resignation letter chief minister on Monday.

He confirmed this on Twitter saying, had been delivered at Captain Amarinder Singh’s official residence.

Sidhu did not take over the charge of the power ministry, that he had allotted Amarinder Singh last month in a reshuffle when he was stripped of the portfolio of local bodies, tourism, and culture.

Sidhu, who had never really gotten along with the chief minister, had last month sent his resignation to Congress president Rahul Gandhi after the reshuffle.

The letter, which was released on Sunday by Navjot Sidhu – is widely seen as an indication for the party that it was difficult for him to remain in the Punjab cabinet. Some efforts were made by the senior leaders of the Congress to compromise but efforts were not taken away.

Navjot Sidhu continued to step down and was seen publicly in his hometown of Amritsar and Vaishno Devi temple last month.

Siddhu’s ‘I quit’ message on social media in the weekend was also designed to answer the Bharatiya Janata Party, demanding that he was darts on the power ministry and Cabinet meetings to abscond himself. That if he was leaving then he would resign as a minister.

But his exit from the Punjab cabinet is associated with a broad division with the Punjab Chief Minister.

The Cold War between Amarinder and Sidhu has not ended since the appointment of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the swearing-in ceremony in August last year, after being a cricketer-turned-politician. This visit created controversy as Sidhu was seen hugging Pakistani army chief General Qamar Bajwa.

The tension between the two increased when Sidhu had gone to Pakistan for the ground ceremony of Kartarpur corridor in November last year, despite this Amarinder refused to accept the invitation and advised Sidhu to do so.
