NCP’s Nawab Malik Mocks Amit Shah: Sharad Pawar Defeated So-Called Chanakya

Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar has finally “outwitted” the “so-called Chanakya of the Indian politics”, the party said on Friday, as it inches closer to forming a government with Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra. The NCP’s chief spokesperson Nawab Malik also reiterated that the throne of Delhi could not make Maharashtra bow before it.

“At last, the so-called Chanakya of Indian politics has been defeated by Sharad Pawar Sahab,” Nawab Malik, a spokesperson for the NCP, tweeted.

As of now, the prospective coalition taking shape in Maharashtra includes the Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress. The BJP though feels otherwise. The silence in the saffron camps was momentarily broken when Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that the upcoming alliance of Sena-NCP-Congress was non-viable. “They are all parties with differing ideologies… Their government won’t last for long,” Gadkari said.

Upbeat Sena MP Sanjay Raut replying to a question whether the party would return to the NDA-fold if it was given the post of CM, said: “This is now a fight for the dignity and self-respect of Maharashtra. Now, even if we are offered the throne of (Lord) Indra, we are not interested… That time has elapsed.”
