Need To Make Indian Banks, Currency Important Part Of International Trade: PM Modi

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi on Monday said it is necessary to focus on how to make our domestic banks and currency an important part of the international supply chain and trade.

The Prime Minister also called upon financial institutions to continuously encourage good financial and corporate governance practices.

Inaugurating the prestigious week of celebrations by the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Modi said that India has developed various financial inclusion platforms and created awareness about them for their optimum utilization.

“Efforts should be made to expand these financial inclusion solutions globally.” Modi also launched ‘Jan Samarth Portal’, a credit-linked portal of 12 government schemes to ensure easy access to credit to youth, entrepreneurs and farmers,” he said.

He said that Jan Samarth Portal would be an ‘end-to-end delivery platform’, and more people would come forward to take loans.

In his address, the Prime Minister said: “It is necessary to focus on how to make our domestic banks, and currency an important part of the international supply chain and trade”.

Modi said that people-centred governance and continuous efforts toward good governance have been the hallmarks of the government in the last eight years.

He also said that permanent dwelling, electricity, gas, water and free treatment have given poor respect they deserve.
