Night Curfew Imposed In Haridwar On Makar Sankranti, Ban On Devotees Taking Holy Dip

Mumbai: Haridwar district administration has imposed a complete ban on devotees taking holy dips on ‘Makar Sankranti’, January 14, in view of rising COVID-19 cases, Vinay Shankar Pandey, DM Haridwar, said.

“Night curfew to be imposed from 10 pm- 6 am on January 14,” Vinay Shankar Pandey, DM, Haridwar said in an order. Also Read: India Records 1.68 Lakh New COVID-19 Cases, 6.4% Lower Than Yesterday

The order issued by the Haridwar district administration further stated that the threat of the third wave of COVID-19 is very high and the number of COVID-19 cases has increased.

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti 2022 in Haridwar, the following restrictions have been imposed in light of the Omicron/Covid-19 cases across the country/state.

  1. Makar Sankranti Parv 2022 and holy snan to remain closed for devotees on January 14 2022
  2. No tourists/ devotees coming from outside states will be allowed to enter
  3. No entry for citizens and devotees at the ‘Har ki Pauri’
  4. Night curfew at public places between 10 pm to 6 am
  5. A complete ban on the religious congregation is to be implemented by the district administration.
  6. If any individual is seen violating COVID-19 norms, action will be taken against the individual under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.

Meanwhile, India, on Tuesday logged 1,68,063 new coronavirus infections and 4,461 cases of the Omicron variant.
