‘None Of The Southern State Will Accept Imposition,” Rajinikanth Over Hindi Row

Mumbai: Breaking silence over an ongoing row over the Centre’s alleged intention to impose Hindi, Superstar Rajinikanth said that none of the southern states will accept Hindi imposition.

Speaking to the media at the Chennai airport, the actor told the politician, “Hindi should not be implemented. Not just Tamil Nadu, but none of the southern states will implement Hindi. “He said,” Not only Hindi but also no language should be imposed. If there is a common language then it is good for the unity and progress of the country but it is not acceptable to force a language.”

He also said that even states in North India will not agree if a language was being imposed on them.
Speaking at a function on Hindi Day, the controversy started on Saturday, with the Home Minister saying that it was important for the country to have a ‘common to national language’.

The remark was condemned by leaders from the south including DMK chief MK Stalin, Vaiko, Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan and opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Asaduddin Owaisi etc.

The DMK, in fact, will hold a state-wide protest in Tamil Nadu on Friday.
