PM Modi Congratulates Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Says ‘Confident You Will Work Diligently’

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, November 28, congratulated Uddhav Thackeray for taking oath as chief minister of Maharashtra. “Congratulations to Uddhav Thackeray Ji on taking oath as the CM of Maharashtra. I am confident he will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra,” the prime minister said.

The Shiv Sena chief is heading the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi, an alliance of NCP, Sena and Congress. Six leaders- two each from all three parties were also sworn in as ministers in the state cabinet. They include NCP’s Chhagan Bhujbal and Jayant Patil, Congress’ Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut, and Shiv Sena’s Subhash Desai and Eknath Shinde.

Among the prominent dignitaries present on the occasion were over 500 farmers and farm widows from all over the state, Uddhav Thackery’s cousin and MNS President Raj Thackeray, business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita Ambani and son Anant were also present.

At least three Chief Ministers from different states and six former Maharashtra Chief Ministers, including Sharad Pawar, Manohar Joshi, Sushilkumar Shinde, Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan and Devendra Fadnavis were present at the event.
