PM Narendra Modi Wishes Happiness, Prosperity To Everyone On Mahalaya

Mumbai: On Saturday PM Narendra Modi wished the nation on the occasion of Mahalaya.

“Shubho Mahalaya! We pray for the abundance of happiness in our lives. May everyone be healthy and prosperous. May the blessings of Maa Durga always remain on our society,” Modi’s tweet read.

Mahalaya is the end of the month of Pitru Paksha, which is celebrated by Hindus by remembering their ancestors. Families give food, money and other gifts to their ‘ancestors’ (ancestors) as a token of reverence.

It is also considered as an invitation for Goddess Durga to descend on earth. Goddess Durga is believed to have descended the earth on Mahalaya which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor by Bengalis all over the world.
