Puducherry Adds 531 New Covid-19 Cases, Tally Goes Up To

Mumbai: A senior official of the Department of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday that 531 fresh coronavirus cases were reported during the last 24 hours in the Union Territory of Puducherry, totalling 46,393.

“Three more people (two in Puducherry and one in Karaikal) died due to the virus pushing the toll to 702 during the last twenty-four hours,” Health Department director S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

He said that the number of active cases was 3,576 (including 2,898 in domestic quarantine), so far 42,115 people have been discharged after recovery.

At the end of the examination of 4,714 people, 5,7 new cases were identified and these patients were spread across Puducherry (366), Karaikal (95), Yanam (48) and Mahe (22).

The director of the health department said that 220 patients were discharged during the 24 hours ending at 10 am on Friday.

The mortality and recovery rates were 1.51 per cent and 90.78 per cent, respectively.

Kumar said that 7.19 lakh samples have been tested so far and 6.55 lakh samples out of them have turned out to be negative.
