Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Meets HM Amit Shah, Discusses Over Security Pakistan Sikh Girl Issue

Mumbai: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh met Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss security-related matters and forced conversion of Sikh girl in Pakistan.

“We have told the Government of India that the issue of the forced conversion of a Sikh girl in Pakistan should be taken very seriously and we should also think of a solution to it. I publicly appeal to the Prime Minister of Pakistan that he must find a solution, ”Singh told reporters.

“We have reacted to this issue very strongly. I have publically reacted on this to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Government of India has taken steps in the matter,” Singh added.

A Sikh teenager who went missing for several days after the abduction was found last week when he was forcibly converted to Islam and married a Muslim man.

The incident created an uproar in India, especially among the Sikh community. The Foreign Ministry said that they have received representation from civil society in India, including Sikh religious bodies and “shared these concerns with the Government of Pakistan and called for immediate remedial action.”

Amarinder Singh also sought the immediate intervention of Indian and Pakistani governments in the matter.
