Pushkar Singh Dhami Sworn In As Uttarakhand Chief Minister For 2nd Term

Along with him, eight cabinet ministers were also administered the oath

Mumbai: BJP leader Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday took an oath as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in Dehradun. This is Dhami’s second term as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Along with him, eight cabinet ministers were also administered the oath.

Dhami was on Monday elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Uttarakhand, paving the way for him to take over the reins of the state for the second time.

The new cabinet includes three new faces including Chandan Ramdas, Premchand Agarwal and Saurabh Bahuguna. Other cabinet ministers who have been reiterated include Satpal Maharaj, Dhan Singh Rawat, Rekha Arya, Ganesh Joshi and Subodh Uniyal. Premchand Agrawal, who was the Speaker in the previous assembly, took oath in Sanskrit.

Dhami, who recently lost from the Khatima constituency in Uttarakhand, led the party’s electoral effort as chief minister during the elections.

The results were announced on March 10, and there was speculation whether he would be the chief minister for the second time.

Apart from Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, Goa’s nominated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Uttar Pradesh’s nominated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Rajasthan BJP leader Vasundhara Raje attended the swearing-in ceremony. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other BJP leaders also attended the event.

Dhami had lost to Congress candidate Bhuwan Chandra Kapri from Khatima by a margin of 6,579 votes in the state polls. He got a total of 41,598 votes with a vote share of 44.8 per cent against Kapri, who got 48,177 with 51.89 per cent votes. Dhami had won twice from the seat.
