Raj Kundra Paid ₹25 Lakh Bribe To Police To Avoid Arrest: Porn Films Case Accused
Mumbai: An accused in the porn films case has alleged that Raj Kundra paid a ₹25-lakh bribe to Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch officials to avoid arrest.
Absconding accused Arvind Srivastava alias Yash Thakur, who was named as the kingpin of the racket in March, had emailed a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the same month, alleging that Kundra paid a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to Crime Branch sleuths to avoid getting arrested in the case, according to a report by Mid-Day.
The report further stated that in April, the ACB forwarded Thakur’s complaint to the Mumbai Police chief’s office. However, the officials refused to say anything in this matter.
A case was registered in February this year in connection with the alleged porn film racket, but Kundra’s arrest was registered by Crime Branch officials on Monday (July 19). The businessman is in police custody till July 23. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 34 (general intent), 292 and 293 (relating to obscene and obscene advertisement and display) and related sections. Police have described the 45-year-old businessman as the “key conspirator” of the case. He was involved in producing pornographic films and publishing them through an OTT app called ‘Hotshots’.
Kundra had a ‘plan B’ after Google Play took down the ‘Hotshots’ app over policy violations, his alleged WhatsApp chat has revealed. At least four screenshots of Kundra’s purported WhatsApp chat are going viral on the social media platform, in which he is purportedly seen discussing a ‘plan B’ with other group members.
