Rape-Accused Man From UP Absconding For 2 Years Arrested Un Thane

Mumbai: A 26-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh who was absconding for the last two years after a rape case was filed against him in Raebareli was arrested by police in Thane’s Bhiwandi town.

A case has been registered against the 26-year-old accused of allegedly raping and intimidating a widow of her village in Rae Bareli, Senior Police Inspector Sital Raut of Shanti Nagar police station in Bhiwandi town of Thane said.

Rae Bareli police had recently received a tip-off and based on the location of the mobile phone of the accused, it was found that he is hiding in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi.

They sought help from the Shanti Nagar police, who traced the accused on Wednesday and arrested him, the official said.
