Reduce Slavery To Foreign Goods, Be Vocal For Local: PM Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged citizens to reduce slavery to foreign goods and focus on the ‘vocal for local’ mantra.

The Prime Minister said that our path and destination for the future are clear. At the inaugural session of the Jain International Trade Organization (JITO), he said, “Atmanirbhar Bharat is our path and also our resolve. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to create every necessary environment for it.”

The Prime Minister urged the gathering to work for the earth. He elaborated that ‘E’ means prosperity of the environment. He also urged them to discuss how they can support the efforts to build at least 75 Amrit Sarovar in every district by August 15 next year. ‘A’ means to make agriculture more profitable and invest more in natural farming, agricultural technology and the food processing sector. The ‘R’ stands for Recycling and Reusing, Reducing and Working towards Recycling with an emphasis on cyclical economy. ‘T’ means to take technology to as many people as possible. He urged the audience to consider how they can make other advanced technology like drone technology more accessible. ‘H’ means health, he said that today the government is doing a lot of work for health care, and medical colleges in every district of the country.

He asked the gathering to think about how his organization could encourage it. The Prime Minister said that more than 40 lakh sellers are connected to the government e-marketplace.

“Ever since the government e-marketplace i.e. GeM portal has come into existence, all purchases are done on one platform in front of everyone. Now people from remote villages, small shopkeepers and self-help groups can sell their products directly to the government, today more than 40 lakh sellers have joined the GeM portal,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister further said that the government is ensuring proper arrangements like health care, and medical colleges in every district of the country. The Prime Minister today addressed the inaugural session of ‘JITO Connect 2022’ via video conferencing.
