Request To Wear Yellow Turbans, Shawls For Swearing-In Ceremony: Bhagwant Mann

Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party’s Bhagwant Mann, who will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16 requested the public to reach Khatkar Kalan for the ceremony.

He urged them to join him in taking the responsibilities of a Chief Minister. The video appeal comes a day after the 48-year-old leader and other candidates led a grand roadshow in Amritsar by Arvind Kejriwal, who has won the state elections.

In the video tweeted by the AAP leader, he said: “On 16 March, in Khatkar Kalan, the oath ceremony for the Punjab chief minister will take place. Not just me, the state’s 3 crores plus population will take an oath with me. We will together carry forward the legacy of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. I won’t be taking the oath alone. All of you will take the CM’s oath. This will be your government.” Khatkar Kalan is freedom fighter in Bhagat Singh’s ancestral village.

“To encourage your brother, please come at 10 am at Khatkar Kalan,” the AAP leader said and then made a request. He asked the women to wear saffron dupattas and men to wear saffron turbans. Saffron holds significance in Sikhism. “We will paint Khatkar Kalan saffron that day.

The video was shared by Arvind Kejriwal too. In hindi, the Delhi chief minister wrote: “Punjab will become Rangla Punjab again. The dreams of Bhagat Singh will come true. The whole Punjab will take oath with my younger brother. I am participating … you too please come.”
