Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Indian Student Shot At In Ukraine Informs Union Minister VK Singh

Mumbai: An Indian student has been hospitalized after being shot in Kyiv, Ukraine. This comes days after an Indian student was killed in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, General VK Singh, Minister of State (MoS) of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), disclosed the information at the Rzezow Airport in Poland on Thursday.

General (Retd) Singh told ANI, “A student from Kyiv was reported to have been shot and was immediately admitted to a hospital in Kyiv.”

“The Indian Embassy had earlier approved on the priority that everyone should leave Kyiv. In the event of war, the gunshot does not look at one’s religion and nationality,” he said.

He further said that the Indian government is trying to evacuate as many people as possible with the least damage.

The Minister also informed that 4 flights will leave tomorrow from Rizo and 1 from Warsaw.

We are trying to evacuate 800-900 students as they do not have a place to stay here, the minister said, adding that a temporary arrangement has been made.

In the last three days, 7 flights carrying around 200 Indian nationals in each flight have reached India.

Singh said some of the students who reached Warsaw and their relatives and friends have decided to stay here.

On March 1, Naveen Shekharappa Gyangoudar, a 21-year-old medical student from Karnataka, was killed in Russian shelling.

Naveen was standing in the queue for food in Ukraine’s Kharkiv when the attack took place.

The students are currently on the run from war-torn Ukraine and trying to reach the border of neighbouring countries for their safe return to India.

Four Union ministers, Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and General (Retd) VK Singh are overseeing the evacuation efforts in countries adjoining Ukraine.
