Sabyasachi Issued Legal Notice For Using Semi-Naked Models For Mangalsutra Ad

Netizens took to social media to criticise the ad campaign and not the collection, saying it is no lingerie collection

Mumbai: Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has been issued a legal notice by Advocate Ashutosh Dubey, legal advisor, BJP-Maharashtra Palghar District for using semi-naked models for a Mangalsutra collection advertisement.

The ad was criticised by several social media users as it featured a model in a black bra.

In one of the pictures, there is a female model wearing a black brassiere and small bindi along with the mangalsutra, leaning on a shirtless male model.

The notice says that “semi-naked models” were used for the campaign, which has hurt people’s sentiment.

Netizens took to social media to criticise the ad campaign and not the collection. They said that it looks like a new lingerie collection.

“I thought Sabyasachi launched his new lingerie collection, no no…that’s a mangalsutra ad. I’m so regressive, I didn’t notice,” wrote a user.

Another user wrote, “No! This is no lingerie or C0nd0m Ad. This is Sabyasachi Mangalsutra Ad. Ultra-Woke #Sabyasachi is so creatively bankrupt that they have to use semi-naked models for a Mangalsutra ad.”

The luxury mangalsutra is made of 18k gold featuring black onyx, pearl and golden beaded chain. It costs Rs 1,65,000.
