Mamata Banerjee Running Extortion Rackets With TMC MLA’s; Alleges BJP’s Locket Chatterjee

Locket further said she has evidence to prove that TMC leaders have become part of the extortion racket

Mumbai: BJP MP Locket Chatterjee has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of running an extortion industry in the state with the help of Trinamool Congress MLAs and party cadres.

Her comments came while sharing a screenshot of an email by Mahesh Agarwal, from Kolkata-based Purti Group to the Chief Minister’s office.

The email alleged that the Rajib Basu Roy, who pretended to be a close aide of local MLA, kidnapped three engineers, and demanded ransom.

“Respected ma’am, we with folded hands request your good self to strictly look into the matter and save the investment environment of the state initiated by you,” his letter read.

He added that goons are spoiling the image of the state. However, the authenticity of the letter is not verified yet.

“A glaring example of how a businessman became a victim of extortion. His employees got kidnapped,” Locket reacted to the letter.

Locket further said she has evidence to prove that TMC leaders have become part of the extortion racket, claiming that an organized crime system is working all over the state.

“The business of tolabaazi is going on continuously in the state,” she said.

The term ‘Tolabaazi’ is often used against Trinamool Congress in Bengal and is roughly understood as an act of organised extortion in local parlance.

“When a businessman undertakes a project in Bengal, then the TMC syndicate in return demands their share of the money. This is not only the matter of my area Hooghly but the whole of Bengal,” Chatterjee added.

She also called extortion the prime reason, why West Bengal reeks of backwardness.

The BJP leader further alleged that extortion racket has been going on for 10 years in Bengal. She accused CM Mamta Banerjee of lying that the industries are coming into the state.

Chatterjee asked if Mamta Banerjee will run the same business of extortion and loot in the coastal and northeastern state, where TMC is going to contest assembly elections next year in Goa and Tripura.
