Schools For Classes 8-12 To Be Reopened In Mumbai From Oct 4: BMC Chief

Mumbai: BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said on Wednesday schools for classes 8-12 will reopen in Mumbai from October 4 amid COVID-19.

BMC Commissioner Iqbal Chahal also had said that all COVID-19 SoPs issued by the government will be implemented.

According to the guidelines issued by the Mayor, there will be a maximum of 50 students in a class and only one student will sit on the same bench. Students have also been asked to come on an alternate days basis.

Pednekar further specified the COVID-19 protocol and said that all the schools are to be linked to the nearby COVID centres.

Masks and sanitisers will be provided by the schools but parents will have to ensure that an extra mask is kept in the student’s bag and at least a small bottle of sanitiser is also kept. Most of the teachers are vaccinated, but whatever is left, go to the nearest centre and get yourself vaccinated, read the guidelines.

Last week, the state education minister pointed out that local officials, collectors and commissioners were asked to oversee strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The Education Minister also clarified that there is no compulsion to attend physical classes. Students can also attend online classes. They will come to school only with the consent of their parents.
