Section 144 Imposed In Several Parts Of Mumbai As ED Summoned MNS Chief Raj Thackeray

Mumbai: Section 144 imposed by the Mumbai Police in several parts of the City ahead of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Areas like Marine Drive, MRA Marg, Dadar, and Azad Maidan police stations are under section 144.

The police stations where the prohibitory orders are imposed are areas close to the ED office, MNS leader Raj Thackeray’s residence and MNS office in Dadar West area.

Earlier in the day, MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande was detained by the Mumbai Police.

The MNS had earlier announced a protest against ED’s summons to Thackeray, but the protest was later called off following an appeal for peace and harmony by the party chief.

The ED has summoned Thackeray to appear before it today morning for questioning in connection with a case pertaining to alleged irregularities related to Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) loan to Kohinoor CTNL.

The ED is investigating alleged irregularities related to debt and equity investments of the IL&FS group at Kohinoor CTNL, one of the defaulters. Kohinoor CTNL is developing Kohinoor Square Tower at Dadar (West) in Mumbai.
