Someone Working Behind The Scenes To Stir Trouble In J&K: Army Chief

Mumbai: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said on Sunday that an attempt has been made to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir at the behest of terrorists.

He said that intelligence inputs have been received from the militants infiltrating from across the border as the Center has given special status to the state.

“Gradually the situation in the valley is normalizing, but obviously someone is working from behind the scenes, at the behest of terrorists and agencies, some outside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, to disrupt the peaceful environment “General Rawat was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.

“Ever since the special provisions (for Jammu and Kashmir) are being repealed, we have been receiving repeated inputs about infiltration by terrorists from across the border,” he said.

The army on Sunday destroyed three terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after firing at Indian Army posts for infiltration by terrorists. General Rawat said that at least six to 10 Pakistani soldiers and similar terrorists were killed in army artillery fire.

The Center imposed restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir before announcing its decision in Parliament on 5 August. Many leaders were arrested or detained by the Center. It also blocked telephonic communication.

The centre says restrictions are being lifted gradually. Last week, it had restored post-paid mobile services.
