Stop Daydreaming About Forming Govt In Goa: BJP To Congress

Mumbai: After Congress’ claim to win a clear majority in Goa, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that Congress should stop daydreaming about forming government in the state.

The BJP is the incumbent government in the state.  “Congress should stop dreaming. Their greed for power is reflected in their statements. As I said earlier, the overwhelming turnout shows that people voted for the BJP. Our victory and defeat of Congress will be clear on March 10,” Tawanade said in a statement.

Notably, Goa reported high turnout in the assembly elections held on Monday, following which Dinesh Gundu Rao, in charge of Goa’s All India Congress Committee (AICC) said that there is a huge anti-incumbency wave and the Congress will form the government.

78.94 per cent voter turnout was recorded in 40 assembly seats of Goa. This statement of the BJP state president comes after opposition leaders Digambar Kamat and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar claimed that the BJP would be reduced to one digit.

Tawanade said, “Congress leaders are afraid of losing the 2022 election after a massive turnout tomorrow. The overwhelming response to the polls is an indication that the BJP will once again form the government in Goa.”

Expressing confidence over BJP’s victory, he said, “Of course, Congress has the right to dream of its victory, but they should not speak nonsense that BJP will get one mark. We are sure to sweep to victory and form the government for the third consecutive time. We have full faith in our people. We know our electorates have voted for development that only the BJP can execute. We have turned this into a reality over the last 10 years.”

Calling Congress a “self-centred party”, the BJP state president said, “They should not forget how it made Goa suffer under its rule. All through their election campaign this time they have only tried to mislead and hoodwink everyone, although we are sure people have smartly handled it.
