Swiggy To Become 3rd Largest Source Of Employment In India, As Food Delivery Start-Up Is To Hire 3 lakh People In 18 Months

Mumbai: In a recent development, food distribution start-up Swiggy aims to become one of India’s largest source of employment very soon.

According to a report by TOI, the company plans to hire around 3 lakh delivery executives in the next 18 months.
At the company’s Hyperlocal Innovation Summit, Gigabytes, which was held on Friday, co-founder and CEO Sriharsha Majalti expressed confidence in the company’s future and said, “If some of our growth projections continue, it would be years ago.” Will not happen until we can be the third-largest source of employment in the country behind the Army and Indian Railways.”

The Indian Army has 12.5 lakh soldiers, while the Railways had more than 12 lakh personnel as of March 2018.

Currently, Swiggy has 2.1 million monthly active delivery employees and approximately 8,000 corporate employees on its payroll. Employing more than 3 lakh people will increase the total number to over 5 lakh.

Not only this, but the Bangalore-headquartered firm also aims to transact 100 million customers more than 15 times a month over the next 10-15 years.

As factors driving growth for the company, Megenti cited Pods and Swiggy Daily and Swiggy POPs as the current catalytic catalyst.

One of the largest food delivery platforms in the country, Swiggy operates in more than 500 cities and sees around 1.4 million food orders across India. So far, it has completed more than half a billion orders and has more than 2.1 lakh, active distribution partners
