T’gana To Set Up 48 Oxygen Generation Plants With 324 MT Capacity

Mumbai: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao Monday directed the officials at the Department of Health, Medical & Family Welfare to set up 48 oxygen generation plants in government hospitals to generate 324 MT of oxygen required for COVID-19 patients in the state.

A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level review meeting held at his camp office on Monday (May 17) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The CM also directed the authorities to set up an additional plant in Hyderabad to produce 100 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen.

It was also decided to install 6 units of 16 MT plant, 15 units of 8 MT plant, 27 units of 4 MT plant in Government sector hospitals of Hyderabad.

Accordingly, oxygen producers were asked to deliver 11 tankers with a capacity of 20 tonnes within 10 days.

As of Monday, 6926 beds are vacant in Telangana government hospitals. Of these, 2253 are oxygen beds, 533 ICU beds are 533 and 4140 are normal beds.

Officials said the state has received only 57,30,220 doses of the vaccine. And to date, the state has a stock of 1,86,780 doses of Covaxin and Covshield vaccines. Of this, there are 58230 Covaxin and 1, 28, 550 Covshield vaccines.
