Efforts Being Made To Increase COVID-19 Vaccine Supply: PM Narendra Modi

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday held an online interaction with CMs and District Magistrates of the districts that have been worst affected in the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

PM Modi told the attendees that the Union Health Ministry is constantly making efforts to increase the supply of COVID-19 vaccines on a large scale.

“Continuous efforts are being made to increase the supply of COVID vaccines on a large scale. The Ministry of Health is streamlining the system and process of vaccination,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister also said that efforts are being made to release the immunization program 15 days in advance to help the officials understand how many people in their district need to be vaccinated, and to assist in the preparation of the vaccination campaign.

“This will help you know how many people will be provided the vaccine in the district and how you should prepare for it,” he said.

PM Modi also urged the authorities to focus on rural and remote areas of the country as the second wave of COVID-19 is increasing from these areas. He urged the authorities to work hard to test the affected people, isolate them and treat them.

In the virtual meeting, he said, “In the second wave of COVID-19, we have to pay a lot of attention to rural, remote areas.”

He also stressed the importance of vaccination as a “strong way to fight COVID-19” and asked him to dispel all myths about it.

The daily tally of Covid-19 cases have been following a downward trend and recording fewer than 3 lakh daily cases since Monday. However, the number of single-day fatalities reached an all-time high on Tuesday, after 4,329 individuals succumbed to the disease.
