A lot is been said about how people are using the lockdown period. Social Media is been flooded with people making Dalogna Coffee and making TikTok videos as if that’s the only thing left to do on this planet. It’s as if only people with jobs have the right to enjoy their quarantine by pursuing their hobbies. Being a student, I would love to speak about my Lockdown days and here it is.
My room is like “mai aur meri tanhai aksar ye baatein kiya karte he”. Though there is no one to talk to yet still, I sit around alone wondering what new to do every day.
Getting to hear from my teachers that we should use this time productively, I tried to read a book or two, and guess what, I finished reading an entire book!
Being a ‘bharwala’ all my life, it is difficult for me to stick in between these 4 walls of my house. As my eyes turn towards the door, I remember what an adventure it would be to feel a hit by the police with thick sticks. I then shuffle the thought away and decide to sit at home instead.
Now as I wander into my house, I see my mom working and decide to help her with the work. As she seems to be shocked and happy at the same time, I try my hands on a few cooking tips. As I fail miserably, I hear a snap comment, “gharatle kahi kam nahi karta, fakt mobile pahije yha mulala”. Before getting to hear more of her sweet words I decide to step out of the kitchen silently.
Sitting on my bed, I realize that I miss my college friends, and what we would be doing right now if we were together. It gets me irritated to see how the world is suffering due to this coronavirus. Random thought of saving the world, if I had superpowers, crosses my mind and I laugh at my own stupidest thought.!
But yet again, I realize, this may be the first and last longest holiday I may get. I shall use it wisely and so I get up, straighten my back, pull-up my sleeves and decide to start doing something productive, but from tomorrow!!
