For You By You

To Quarantine And Much More

When Life gives you lemons… make lemonade!’

We are all aware of this quote. Life never fails to surprise us. Well, it does its job, the point is, do we?

Recently, a thought came to my mind while I was doing my usual set of ‘work from Home’ stuff. The stuff includes an endless list of office work, lined up email responses, my study assignments, online lectures and whatnot.

While I was the happiest one (I am sure all of us were) when they announced that it would be ‘work from home’ thing for all of us, it did not take me long to realise that it sucked! The one who wished for a break so bad, so that she could have completed all her pending work (how dedicated am I!).Instead, I am sulking over the fact that my work instead of declining has increased three-fold, and why not!! We are at home.

Meanwhile, my mother wants me to do households because “kadhitari kam karat ja” is what I get to here and ‘Work from Home’ is equal to pretending to show that I am glued to my laptop to avoid household work. When suddenly a concept of ‘Online lectures’ comes to focus and home assignments become an integral part of my academics. Before I know, my 8-hour shift becomes a 24*7 affair!

So yes, that’s pretty much what I am facing. Who ever said that quarantine would help you explore your long-lost hobbies?

The irony is that we all feel the same at some point in our lives. Not that now we are locked-down at home, but otherwise too, we need a break from time to time, to remind ourselves to relax and be peaceful, we may wish to set aside some time for a retreat, a day full of happiness as if we are the happiest person here!

But reality strikes us hard until we realise that life is not a bed of roses, it’s full of thorns, and roses are rarely there. All there is are the thorns that prick you hard and eventually you die! No matter what you do, you will love it at first and eventually it gets boring. You have to deal with it. And if we are going to deal with it, why not make the best of the moment?

The point here is, if life keeps giving you lemons, instead of making lemonade (come on that’s easy!), why not eat that lemon whole, choke that lemon down, the skin, the pulp, the seeds. And then maybe one day life will stop being such a mess if you show it that you are done fooling around.
