TN: 13 Patients Die Overnight At Govt Hosp In Chengalpet, Due To Oxygen Shortage

Mumbai: Over 13 patients died overnight in a government hospital in the Chengalpet district of Tamil Nadu. Relatives attributed the lack of oxygen to the deaths, however, the district administration denied the charge.

The District Collector said that the hospital has sufficient reserves of oxygen and the incident occurred due to a technical problem in the oxygen supply line. He said that out of 23 patients, only one was a COVID-19 patient.

The technical problem has already been fixed and the cause of the malfunction is being reached, the collector said.

Meanwhile, many hospitals in Chennai are battling beds and lack of oxygen amid the second wave of coronavirus. As Tamil Nadu is witnessing a surgeon in the number of daily coronavirus cases during the second wave of COVID, hospitals in the state capital reported medical oxygen shortages.
