Tremors Felt In Delhi-NCR, North India After 5.7-Magnitude Earthquake In Afghanistan

Mumbai: An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region at 9.45 am on Saturday, as per the National Center for Seismology. Tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR, Jammu and Kashmir and other north Indian regions.

As per the review shared by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake had a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake started at around 09:45 this morning near Zebak, Afghanistan. According to the NCS, the epicentre of the quake was 259 km northeast of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, 346 km north-northwest of Islamabad in Pakistan and 422 km north-west of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

Another earthquake of magnitude 3.8 struck Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province today.

As tremors were felt in Kashmir and Delhi-NCR region, many people took to social media platforms to share updates. People coming out of their homes in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere are also in panic due to the tremors of the earthquake.

According to officials in Srinagar, there was no report of any casualties or damage to property.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand was jolted with a quake measuring 3.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale.
