Unsatisfied MP Udit Raj’s Quit BJP, Joins Congress

Mumbai: A day after the saffron party was denied ticket, BJP MP from North Western Delhi Udit Raj joined Congress on Wednesday.

Raj joined the Congress after meeting with party president Rahul Gandhi this morning. On Wednesday, Raj tweeted that he would not be “hurt”, the BJP had earlier told him that he would not be given a ticket.

Later on, he tweeted saying, “I still hope that I will file nomination from my constituency and BJP where I have worked hard and proved my metal.”

“I hope I will not be forced to leave BJP by BJP itself,” he added.

BJP changed Raj from North West Lok Sabha constituency to Punjabi Sufi singer Swan Raj Hans.

On Tuesday, he had said that the BJP had decided to leave it to oppose the order of the apex court which cancelled the stringent provisions of the Dalit Protection Act.

Former BJP MP had often kept the views of the party against the stand, particularly during the bandh called by Sabarimala issue and Dalit organizations last year.

“Today I joined Indian National Congress thanks to party president Rahul Gandhi,” he tweeted after joining the party.
