UP Congress Chief Demands Rs 11,000 From Those Seeking Party Tickets

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Kumar Lallu has demanded Rs 11,000 from those seeking tickets for next year’s assembly elections in the state.

In a circular issued on September 14, the Uttar Pradesh Congress unit chief asked ticket aspirants to donate Rs 11,000 along with their applications for the assembly elections by September 25. Also Read: Mayawati Slams UP Govt Over Poor Condition Of Roads

The party has authorized district and city presidents to submit applications, and two others in the state to submit applications with fees.

Of the total 403 assembly seats, the Congress has already finalized candidates for around 90 seats in which they are MLAs or prominent leaders of the party. Also Read: Owaisi Is BJP’s ‘Chacha Jaan’ , Farmers Need To Understand Their Moves: Rakesh Tikait

The party has asked its state and district units to shortlist the names of candidates for the remaining seats, which will be filtered by the state election committee. Thereafter, a panel will recommend the names to the Central Election Committee.

Pro forma has been given to those seeking tickets from the party and many questions have been asked to them, including how long they have been in the party and what are their political activities.

For the assembly elections to be held next year, the Congress party has decided to take out ‘Congress Pratigya Yatra’ with the tagline ‘Hum Vachan Nibhange’.

The yatra, which is likely to begin next month, will cover a distance of 12,000 km and pass through all major villages and towns.
