UP Students To Get Free Smartphones, Tablets On 25 Dec To Mark Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Birth Anniversary

Mumbai: From December 25, which is the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is going to start giving smartphones and tablets to final year students of graduation and above.

Around one lakh smartphones and tablets will be distributed to the final year students of BTech, BA, BSc, MA, ITI, MBBS, MD, M Tech, PhD and skill development courses at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.

A large number of girl students from all the districts of the state will participate in the programme.

This step is to increase the reach of the party to the youth ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Yogi Adityanath’s government will give free smartphones and tablets to one crore youth to help them become ‘tech-savvy’.

In the first phase of the scheme, the Chief Minister will distribute 60,000 smartphones and 40,000 tablets.

For the first time in the history of the country, such a large number of youth will be given free smartphones and tablets.

Kumar Vineet, Special Secretary, IT and Electronics, said that more than 38 lakh youth had registered on Digishakti, where registration is still open.

“The government has placed the largest ever order for the supply of smartphones and tablets to companies like Lava, Samsung and Acer on the GeM portal,” he said.

The order has been placed on the GeM portal to ensure transparency and fairness in the procurement process. Companies have to deliver 17.75 lakh mobiles and tablets before December 24.

The first phase of the project will involve the purchase of smartphones and tablets for about Rs 2,035 crore. In all, orders have been placed for 10.5 lakh smartphones at Rs 10,740 every piece, as well as 7.20 lakh tablets at Rs 12,606 every piece.

The companies are expected to supply roughly 18 lakh smartphones and tablets soon.
