Uttarakhand Makes Negative RT-PCR Test Report Must For Visitors

Mumbai: Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said on Tuesday that people, especially from states where cases of coronovirus (COVID-19) are on the rise, have to submit a negative COVID test report before entering Uttarakhand.

Amid an increase in the number of COVID cases, Rawat instructed officials to conduct coronavirus testing and vaccination campaigns to combat the pandemic in the state, a statement issued by the chief minister’s office (CMO) said, according to news agency ANI.

Rawat said that all areas of Uttarakhand are seeing a spurt in cases, they should be designated as control and micro-control areas and special attention should be paid to the vaccine dosage regime.

With just two days left for the Kumbh Mela, the chief minister ordered that special campaigns for vaccination and RT-PCR testing should be organised at the bathing ghats in Haridwar.

The decisions were made in a review meeting attended by Rawat, state chief secretary Om Prakash and other officials.

According to the State Health Department’s Bulletin, Uttarakhand has so far reported about 100,000 COVID-19 cases and 1,711 related deaths. On Sunday, 366 cases were reported which were the highest since 1 January.
